Montgomery Alabama Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

So OK... I dont consider myself an expert in this subject at all, but...

First off, some of you might be wondering why I called this entry "Montgomery Alabama Search Engine Optimization (SEO)", well... as somebody once told me... before you go after the entire World Wide Web, you got to start LOCAL, and be specific.

So to start, depending on the day of the week, if you do a search in Google, Yahoo, MSN, Live Search, Ask.com, Dogpile (yeah - what a nam), etc...  for "Web Design Montgomery Alabama" you will find this site either in the first or second pages of the search results. This is due to the fact that I filled the home page with this "key phrase" in the page title, meta tags and within the content of the page, along with "Logo Design Montgomery Alabama", "Stationery Design Montgomery Alabama" and "Business Card Design Montgomery Alabama" which are the services that I offer since i want to attract visitors to my site that are looking for just that. Oops, did I just use those key phrases AGAIN? Guess it can only help :-)

Now that I have accomplished this, I can move on and try to move up in the rankings for "Web Design Alabama" and expand how many potential clients I can reach... then... the Southeastern part of the U.S., then the entire U.S., the the world... :-)

Here are just a few things you can do to either help your site in search ranking and/or check out how your site is doing. 

1. If you want to take a look at how your site is doing, you can register for Google Analytics, a FREE service from Google. Once you sign up for this service, it will provide you with some code that you then have to place in the code of all your pages. If you don't know how to, well... that's what im here for!! :-)
2. Having a sitemap.xml in your server, helps search engines find your site. You can either hand code this or you can use either a FREE or Paid services from XML-Sitemaps.com.
3. Have your webmaster fill (at least) your home page with keywords/key phrases as mentioned above.

Now, don't get me wrong, there is WAY more involved in getting your site up in rankings, or SEO woudln't be so expensive, but I just wanted to share with you a few easy tips.

So again, I am NO expert in this subject, but if by just following these few steps I could accomplish what I have so far, image what I could do if I had an expert working for me (or if I become one myself in the near future).
